THE 250cc sportsbike segment is going through a bit of a resurgence at the moment, with the likes of the riotous Kawasaki ZX-25R kicking off proceedings at the Tokyo Motorcycle Show last year. While it's been known that Honda is working up a machine to rival Kawasaki’s multi-cylinder marvel, until now the expected specification of the machine has not fully been latest report from the Japanese website Young Machine seems to give us the clearest indication as to what the new sportsbike will feature – and it’s looking good if you’re a serious rider with fast road and track outings on the cards for 2020!The current Honda CBR250RR is a 249cc parallel twin-cylinder, 8-valve, DOHC engine, capable of producing a HP at 12,500 rpm although it is reported at the new bike will get around 41bhp, making a direct competitor to the Kawasaki. It’s expected that the bike will use a similar throttle-by-wire system, along with three riding modes, Comfort, Sports, and Sports+.The little Honda is also reported to come fitted with a quickshifter and blipper, the same reverse LCD dash as the CBR500R, keyless ignition, and a slipper new bike is expected to be codenamed K64J, and as yet no pricing information has been officially released. We have found some allegedly leaked information through from a Honda dealer conference that claims the new bike will start at 847,000 Yen, approximately £6,000 in today’s pictures shared, allegedly from the dealer conference, show the bike in three colour schemes, black with gold wheels, HRC Tricolour, and white with the red frame. The 2020 CBR250RR produces more power than its predecessor and features new styling and equipment. The company decided to host a virtual motorcycle show amidst the current Covid-19 outbreak. Along with the CBR250RR 2020 model, the company also showcased the new CT125 Hunter Cub and CBR1000RR-R Fireblade at the Honda Virtual Motorcycle Show' event. The 2020 CBR250RR borrows its design inspiration from its elder sibling in the company's line up, the CBR1000RR-R. It features a combination of red, blue and white graphic paint scheme to mimic the company's HRC WorldSBK motorcycle. Other features include split-LED headlamp cluster, double-barrel-exhausts, gold-coloured fork, brake discs and wheels. The fully-faired motorcycle also features a fully-digital instrument cluster offering a host of information to the rider. The 2020 CBR250RR now features a new 250cc parallel-twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. It now produces a maximum power output of - a 3bhp increase from the older model. Although the torque figures were not revealed at the time of unveiling, we expect the new motorcycle to produce more than which is the torque output on the older model. The engine will continue to come mated with a 6-speed gearbox. However, the new motorcycle will feature a factory-fitted slipper assist clutch. It will also continue to come equipped with an optional bi-directional quick shifter, and ride-by-wire throttle system as well. The motorcycle features three riding modes Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. The suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled by UpSide-Down forks at the front and a mono-shock suspension supported by an aluminium swingarm at the rear. Braking on the motorcycle is done through petal discs at both ends supported by a dual-channel ABS. The Honda CBR250RR is being sold only in the Asian markets. Unfortunately, India is not a part of that list. The New CBR250RR is expected to be priced at 847,000 yen, which is around Rs lakh. With the hefty price tag for a 250cc motorcycle, it will be not feasible for a price-sensitive market as ours. Thoughts About The Honda CBR250RR 2020 Unveiled Globally The Honda CBR 250 is one among the popular bikes in the Indian market. Hondas Indonesian subsidiary Astra Honda announced the new CBR250RR, the production version of the Light Weight Sports Concept showcased last year at the Tokyo Motor Show. The double-R is a significant step up from the CBR250R, offering aggressive styling, an all-new Twin-cylinder engine, throttle-by-wire, selectable engine modes and other features usually expected from larger-displacement sportbikes. At the moment, the CBR250RR has only been confirmed for Indonesia and Japan; Honda will likely introduce a larger-displacement version for western markets to compete against models like Yamahas YZF-R3 and KTMs 390 CBR250RR is powered by a newly developed water-cooled four-stroke parallel-Twin. No performance figures are available yet, but Honda says it is aiming for class-leading performance. A throttle-by-wire system allows for three selectable power modes to suit different needs. The chassis is comprised of a steel truss frame with an asymmetric aluminum swingarm design with the right side shaped so the exhaust can be positioned closer to the center line, allowing for a slimmer shape and more lean angle. The swingarm is hooked up to a Pro-link monoshock with five-step preload adjustability. Up front, the CBR250RR uses an upside-down twin-piston Nissin caliper is paired with the single 310mm front disc while a single-piston caliper is fitted to the 240mm rear rotor. ABS is optional, at least for the Indonesian market. The CBR250RR’s face is a menacing grimace that is a dramatic departure from the CBR250R’s relatively friendly visage. The dual LED headlights appears to match the design patent that we first uncovered in April. Today, Honda announced the plans of its racey looking 2017 CBR250RR… Well, in Indonesia at least. Don’t worry, there’s still reason to be excited as there are several rumors that the bike will make it to the United States as soon 2017. I mean how can you not be excited about a lightweight bike that looks like this?Honda is giving us more reason to get excited about the bike than just its we think incredible styling. The CBR is to be built with a new DOHC four valve, parallel twin 250cc engine that is claimed to produce class-leading power, throttle-by-wire TbW, and an ECU equipped with three riding modes; all of which is housed inside a steel truss frame. The frame is connected to a gull type aluminum swing arm through Honda’s Pro-Link shock that allows for preload changes in a five-step adjustment Honda CBR250RRThe 2017 Honda CBR250RR features a 37-milimeter Showa front fork and aggressive body styling up of HondaThe CBR also features 37-milimeter Showa inverted forks, 310/240-millimeter brake discs, an optional ABS system, and LED lighting. It sounds like an awful lot in a small package, but we can’t wait to see it in back to back to the styling… We can’t stop drooling! The CBR gives off a very aggressive feeling, something we don’t see much in this class, but we aren’t complaining. The bike will be offered in Anchor Grey Metallic, and Mat Gunpowder Metallic, and Racing so we don’t have any official dates of when we will see the CBR250RR in the states, but it’s definitely worth keeping an eye on. The fact that Honda is releasing a lightweight bike with such exciting features may offer a look into the future of what’s coming in other classes.
